You are here: / Jobs / Technical Sales RepresentativeSwings Coffee Roasters is looking for a full-time Technical Sales and Support Representative to oversee and grow our expanding wholesale channel. This position is based out of our Alexandria, VA coffee roastery and works very closely with our President, Director of Sales, and roasting team. The ideal candidate will leverage prior coffee and training experience to further the overall goals of quality, customer service, and sales for within our wholesale accounts. Additionally, this position will provide barista training and technical support for coffee equipment installed within Swings wholesale accounts in and around the DC area. This position requires extensive knowledge of coffee, high level espresso skills, and a solid understanding of how coffee equipment works. The Technical Sales position is responsible for sales growth in the channel by identifying and contacting potential wholesale customers, creating business relationships, and recommending optimal coffee solutions for each customer type. Additional duties include ongoing support and sales development within existing accounts by way of technical support of coffee and espresso equipment, coffee equipment installations, barista training and eduction, and general customer service. Wholesale channel customers include: cafes, restaurants, hotels, and retail markets and all other potential customers that recognize and appreciate specialty coffee. Swings Coffee Roasters is an old-school coffee roaster with a progressive approach towards all things coffee. Located in the Washington DC area, Swings is a wholesale coffee roaster operating retail coffeebars in DC and Alexandria, VA. We are comprised of a dedicated team of coffee professionals who embrace coffee culture and appreciate the path that was forged by others to get us here. Swings customer base is diverse including, but not limited to restaurants, specialty cafes, hotels, bakeries, specialty grocery, and other wholesale accounts. The cornerstone of this position is a love of coffee and a job well done.

Responsibility of the Technical Sales Rep is as follows:

* Call on coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, and other potential clients to sell wholesale coffee, tea, and allied products

* Provide technical support for coffee and espresso equipment within new and existing wholesale accounts

* Provide coffee and barista training to wholesale clients

* Assist with installation, setup and calibration of coffee equipment into new wholesale accounts

* Have an understanding of the fundamentals of water filtration for coffee brewing equipment, be able to recommend the proper solution based on water quality of location

* Conduct sales prospecting and lead management activities within targeted territory to identify and qualify new business opportunities.

* Travel within targeted territory to lead coffee demos, provide on-site trainings, troubleshoot and calibrate coffee equipment, and other interactions with prospective and current wholesale coffee customers

* Ability to assess and improve upon existing market strategy

* Work with Director of Sales and roasting team providing essential market feedback in order to strengthen Swings wholesale solutions

* Become familiar with each coffee that Swings sources and roasts and make recommendations to customers

* Familiarize yourself with Swings history, processes, and people. Form strong working relationships with the leadership team.

* Other duties as assigned.

**Preferred Skills and/or Experience**

* Bachelors degree preferred. Prior business-to-business sales experience required. Specialty coffee industry experience is highly preferred.

* Experience with light duty tools and a technical ability to problem solve when working with coffee equipment

* Experience and understanding of best-in-class tools of the trade espresso equipment, brewers, grinders, manual brew methods

* Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills

* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, a proven team player.

* Qualified candidate must have their own car. This position requires some travel in and around the DC metro area.

* Able to lift and/or move 50 lbs on a regular basis

* Prior experience in the food & beverage industry, preferably in the specialty foods category

* A passion for coffee and thorough understanding of coffee culture
